About The Role – 33041 - Senior Site Manager (Carseland, AB, Canada)
We are excited to announce an opportunity at Orica for the Senior Site Manager - Carseland within our North America Continuous Manufacturing business focused on all aspects of manufacturing of Ammonium Nitrate manufacturing at the Carseland, AB site. Carseland is an easy commute from Calgary, with the facility having been in operation for nearly 45 years.
This role is accountable for all aspects of activity and optimization and is expected to deliver safety, cost, culture, and physical infrastructure improvements for the whole facility. This role is also a key member of the Global and North American Continuous Manufacturing teams.
We are open to this person being in Carseland or Calgary.
What you will be doing
SHES (Safety, Health, Environment, and Security)
• Zero injuries.
• License to Operate.
• Comply with the SH&E Charter.
• Ensure SHE plans are developed and executed, including process safety activities.
• Continuous improvement in the AN Manufacturing Basis of Safety, and compliance thereof.
Leadership and Communication
• Aligns all behaviors with Orica’s Charter Values, Purpose and Strategy. Demonstrate and role model safe behaviors and values.
• Set the continuous manufacturing site strategy and vision for the future integrated with the needs of the business and other business functions.
• Key Member of Manufacturing & Supply Chain team & regular interaction with Regional Management Team.
• Development of Site Leadership Team and High Potential talent to maximize potential and capability, including Succession Planning for Key Roles, Employee Progression Plans, and Individual Development Plans in line with People Plan.
• Drive consistency of performance in the definition and accountabilities of site employees, through having performance management processes in place to communicate expectations and provide feedback on performance.
• Drive a culture of engaged employees involved in the delivery of continuous improvement.
• Continuously deployed best practices with full business alignment.
Customer Alignment
• Effective deployment of new technology to improve manufacturing effectiveness and efficiency.
Cost Management
• Ensure Meeting targets and continuous improvement in all reliability and cost benchmarks, creating a supplier of choice for our customers
• Operate and maintain equipment to maximize Uptime
• Eliminate causes of unreliability.
• Implement best equipment practices
• Reduce unit cash cost through continuous improvement in unit fixed and variable cost.
• Minimize delivered cost through working well with Supply Chain to optimize the use of manufacturing capacity
• Automate and standardize processes
• Execute projects applying Orica Project Process

What you will bring
• At least a Bachelor’s Degree in process, mechanical, or electrical engineering
• Minimum experience of 10 years in the manufacturing industry with experience in nitrogen product or petrochemical manufacturing. We are open to considering professionals with Oil and Gas manufacturing experience.

Role dimensions
• 3 Direct Reports, with a leadership team of 10
• Site headcount of approximately 75, plus embedded contractors
• Must be open to reporting to the Orica site 5 days a week
