About the role

Orica has pioneered the world’s first wireless blasting technology—WebGen™—and we’re excited to be hiring a Wireless Blasting Technician to help bring this cutting-edge solution to life.

This role is based in regional New South Wales, with responsibilities supporting multiple customer sites across the region.

We offer a Drive-In, Drive-Out (DIDO) roster of 8 days on, 6 days off, with transport, accommodation, and meals provided. For candidates residing in NSW, a company vehicle will also be supplied.

As a Wireless Blasting Technician, you’ll be the face of Orica on-site, playing a key role in deploying WebGen™ technology. This hands-on position involves supporting site-level projects, delivering expert advice, ensuring product stewardship, and providing training to our customers.

You don’t need to be an expert in WebGen™ from day one—we’ll provide full training. What we’re looking for is someone who shares our passion for innovation and customer success.

Ideal candidates may include:

• Engineers interested in specialising in blasting, automation, and mining technology
• Underground Shotfirers or Charge-Up Operators ready to take the next step into a technical role
• Underground Communications Technicians seeking a new challenge
• Ex-military personnel looking to transition into a career in underground mining and blasting

What you will be doing

• Key site delivery role in our WebGen™ blasting projects and trials on our Customer sites; 
• Providing product stewardship support to our Customer stakeholders on site; 
• Working within the Orica Technical Services Team to deliver high quality blast results and value to our Customers’ operation; 
• Partnering and developing true longstanding relationships with our trusted Customers; 
• Delivering appropriate safety initiatives which align with Orica’s and our Customer values.

What you will bring

• An underground mining background is an advantage, but not mandatory; 
• A current and up to date shotfiring license, or degree qualification in engineering is an advantage, but not mandatory; 
• A genuine enthusiasm to deliver an innovative technology to our customers; 
• Strong communication skills and an ability to quickly pick-up and master new systems and technologies; 
• Process driven and procedurally disciplined.
