About the role

 

We’re looking for Underground Charge-Up Operators/Shotfirers to join our team at Cadia, NSW. This is a permanent, full-time role on a 7/7 roster, offering both FIFO and DIDO options with travel, accommodation, and meals covered.

This role is critical to delivering safe, high-quality blast outcomes. You’ll work alongside the blast crew to execute end-to-end shotfiring activities and may take the lead on more complex blast tasks while supporting and guiding team members on site.

What you will be doing

 

  • Deliver safe and compliant shotfiring activities (loading, tying, firing);
  • Manage explosives and magazines responsibly;
  • Work closely with the blast team to execute drill & blast plans;
  • Support and mentor newer team members;
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and high service standards.

What you will bring

 


We’re hiring for capability, not just experience. To be successful in this role, you’ll demonstrate:

  • Safety leadership – consistently applies safe work practices and identifies hazards in an underground environment;
  • End-to-end shotfiring capability – able to safely load, tie, and fire blasts based on plan/design;
  • Attention to detail – ensures accuracy in blast setup and compliance with procedures;
  • Team leadership & collaboration – supports and guides blast crew to deliver outcomes;
  • Decision-making under pressure – maintains control and judgment in dynamic site conditions;
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required licences (e.g. BUEL, SSAN);
  • Capability to pass pre-employment medical, including D&A testing;
  • Clean police record (for licensing requirements).
