About the role


We’re thrilled to offer an exciting opportunity for a passionate and skilled professional to step into the role of Trainer Assessor – South East Metals. This position is based in the heart of Central West, NSW, and is perfect for either:

  • Experienced trainers ready to take their impact to the next level, or
  • Seasoned Charge Up Operators eager to transition into a rewarding training career.


As a Trainer Assessor, you’ll play a vital role in delivering high-quality operational and safety training across various Orica and customer sites. You’ll be responsible for assessing competencies and issuing Statements of Attainment to qualified personnel, helping shape the future of safe and effective mining operations.


Roster & Flexibility:
You’ll work on an 8/6 roster, with occasional flexibility required to meet site needs and training schedules.


Travel & Reach:
This role involves moderate to high travel across a diverse range of locations, offering a dynamic work environment and the chance to connect with teams across the region.

What you will be doing

 

  • Champion safety as your top priority, embedding best practices into every training session and assessment.
  • Manage Orica’s site-based responsibilities as a Registered Training Organisation (RTO), ensuring compliance with national and operational standards.
  • Deliver engaging training through group workshops, classroom instruction, and one-on-one coaching for both Orica employees and customers.
  • Maintain accurate compliance records by updating databases, auditing training plans, and ensuring all programs meet minimum standards.
  • Collaborate closely with Site Managers to communicate training schedules and cascade learning initiatives across teams.

What you will bring

 

  • Experience working underground as a Charge Up Operator or Shotfirer is a must;
  • Must have (or be upgrading to) the TAE 40116 training qualification;
  • Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety is a bonus;
  • Comfortable using Word and Excel;
  • Able to get a National Security Clearance;
  • Friendly, energetic communicator—both spoken and written;
  • Willing to travel often, including to remote areas.
