About the role
We are absolutely delighted to announce that we have a new opportunity for an Underground Mechanical Technician / Fitter to join our New South Wales team.
The role will operate on an 8/6 dayshift roster, the Underground Mechanical Technician / Fitter will provide breakdown technical support and field support maintenance for all of Orica’s mobile and fixed plant at the Cobar site. This role will provide first level on-site support to operator level roles for a single customer operated Hypercharge™Drive delivery system, also work with HcD technician on more complex problem solving, training and maintenance requirements. Additionally, this role also fulfils Orica’s duties and ensure’ s HCD maintenance is completed to the agreed service level. Our Hypercharge units are explosive manufacturing process machines specifically designed to load blast holes with explosive chemicals, in an Underground hard rock mining environment.

What you will be doing
- Assisting Orica sites with schedule servicing, repairs, breakdown support and general servicing of all mobile and fixed plant and machinery;
- Assist the Territory and Site Managers to manage a maintenance plan for the equipment at their site(s);
- Continually reassess risks associated with regional operation and maintenance processes taking appropriate corrective action as required;
- Providing field support for clients by performing training, reviews and maintenance support on site.
- Undertake Explosives Magazine Keeper responsibilities including inventory Management;
- Material handling and transferring including the management of ANE emulsion and storage.
What you will bring
- Underground Hard Rock Experience: Previous experience in underground hard rock mining is desirable but not essential;
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems;
- Industry Experience: Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the maintenance of mobile and/or fixed plant equipment;
- Relevant Trade Background: Proven experience as an Auto Electrician, Fitter, or in the maintenance of farm machinery or similar equipment;
- Familiarity with Orica Systems: Prior exposure to Orica systems and processes is advantageous but not mandatory;
- Leadership and Training: Ability to lead and train small teams effectively is desirable;
- Security Clearance: Possession of a current SSAN (Security Sensitive Ammonium Nitrate) clearance or the ability to obtain one. A clean national police record is required either prior to commencement or upon completion of training.
