About the role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Manager – Global Process Safety & Risk to strengthen how Orica identifies, manages and assures its most material process safety and SHES risks globally.
As a key leader within the Global SHES team, you will provide enterprise-wide leadership for Orica's process safety and SHES risk management frameworks. Working closely with senior operational leaders, Global SHES, Regional SHES and Group Risk & Assurance, you will provide independent oversight and expert guidance to strengthen risk management practices, ensure critical risks are understood and controlled, and support informed decision-making across the organisation.

What you will be doing
Global Process Safety Leadership
- Establish and continuously improve Orica’s enterprise process safety framework.
- Develop and maintain global process safety standards, systems, tools and minimum performance requirements.
- Lead enterprise-wide initiatives to strengthen process safety capability and performance across manufacturing and mining operations.
- Facilitate collaboration and knowledge sharing across global process safety networks and working groups.
- Support learning from significant incidents and verify the effectiveness of improvement actions.
Enterprise Risk Management
- Own and continuously improve the SHES risk management framework, including major hazard management requirement.
- Partner with operations to strengthen the identification, assessment and management of material risks across the business.
- Define enterprise risk assessment methodologies, risk criteria, critical controls and risk acceptance thresholds.
- Monitor material risks and escalate where unacceptable risk exposures are identified.
Assurance, Governance & Performance
- Lead the implementation and governance of SHES assurance programs, including audits, reviews and verification activities.
- Monitor process safety and SHES risk performance through leading indicators, KRIs and other performance measures.
- Provide clear and timely reporting to senior leadership, executive committees and governance forums.
- Partner with Group Risk & Assurance to strengthen enterprise risk monitoring and reporting.
Systems, Data & Continuous Improvement
- Maintain and enhance risk master data, analytics, major hazard information, bowties and critical control data.
- Lead the ongoing development of SHES systems, governance processes and data architecture.
- Drive continuous improvement of the Orica SHES Management System.
- Support the evolution of SHES systems and reporting capabilities to meet changing business and regulatory requirement.
What you will bring
- A degree qualification in engineering, science or a related technical discipline.
- Significant experience in process safety and risk management within manufacturing, mining, chemicals, explosives or another high-hazard industry.
- Strong knowledge of process safety management systems, critical controls, major hazard management and enterprise risk frameworks.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, and the ability to influence and collaborate with senior stakeholders.
- Demonstrated leadership, management, and coaching skills, and the ability to lead and motivate a high-performing team.
- Commercial acumen and a business partnering mindset to risk management.
