About the role

 
We are delighted to announce an opportunity for a talented Bench Assistant – Open Cut to join our team, reporting to the Site Supervisor, this remote role supports operations at the Bozshakol Copper Mine Site in Kazakhstan.
 
The successful candidate will assist in delivering high‑quality bulk explosive services to customers, operating at all times in a safe and environmentally responsible manner. Working closely with the Shotfirer or On‑Bench Supervisor on site, the role involves carrying out assigned tasks related to the loading, tying, and firing of blasts.

What you will be doing

 

  • Work safely at all times, ensuring the protection of yourself, others, customers, the public, and the environment while delivering services to agreed quality and production standards.
  • Support site operations by participating in daily toolbox talks, monthly safety meetings, and reporting all incidents or unusual events immediately.
  • Complete all required operational, SHEC, and site‑specific training, and maintain compliance with the Orica Training Matrix.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards and notify site management of any variations in product specification, appearance, or performance.
  • Assist customers in achieving production targets and carry out additional duties, including relief at other locations, as directed by the Site Supervisor.

What you will bring

 

  • A strong commitment to safety, environmental responsibility, and compliance with site and company procedures.
  • Experience working in mining, heavy industry, or a similar operational environment (or a strong willingness to learn).
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a site‑based team, following instructions from the Shotfirer, On‑Bench Supervisor, or Site Supervisor.
  • A proactive attitude toward training, continuous improvement, and maintaining required certifications and competencies.
  • Reliability, adaptability, and the flexibility to work remotely at site locations and support operations as required.
