About the role
We are pleased to announce an opportunity for a talented Bench Assistant – Open Cut to join our team. This role supports the delivery of high-quality bulk explosive services to customers, ensuring all activities are carried out safely and in an environmentally responsible manner at all times.
Working closely with the Shotfirer or On-Bench Supervisor on site, the Bench Assistant will perform assigned tasks related to the loading, tying, and firing of blasts. This position is based remotely at the Bozshakol Copper Mine Site and reports directly to the Site Supervisor in Kazakhstan.

What you will be doing
- Work safely at all times, ensuring the safety of yourself, colleagues, customers, the public, and the environment while delivering services to client specifications.
- Support operational delivery, assisting the client in meeting production targets and maintaining required service quality and volumes.
- Participate in safety and training activities, including daily toolbox talks, safety meetings, and completing all required operational, SHEC, and site‑specific training.
- Maintain compliance and site standards, including housekeeping, adherence to the Orica training matrix, and reporting any incidents, hazards, or product variations immediately.
- Provide operational support as required, including performing ancillary duties and providing relief at other locations within your level of competence when directed by the supervisor.

- A reliable and team‑focused approach, working effectively with supervisors and colleagues to support smooth and efficient blasting operations.
- Operational awareness and attention to detail, ensuring tasks are completed accurately and product, equipment, and site standards are maintained.
- Willingness to learn and develop, actively participating in required training and maintaining compliance with the Orica training matrix.
- Flexibility and a proactive mindset, ready to support production targets, take on ancillary duties, and provide relief at other locations when required.
