About The Role – 31572 - Manager – Manufacturing Center (Alvin, Texas, United States)
We are excited to announce an opportunity at Orica for a Manager – Manufacturing Center within our Orica Specialty Mining Chemicals business unit.
The Manager - Manufacturing Center for the Alvin site is accountable for overseeing the operation as managed by Ascend and to ensure all contractual obligations are complied with. This includes all Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and Motivation outcomes and the associated improvement strategies at the Manufacturing Center. These accountabilities are delivered through leadership of a cross functional Manufacturing Center Leadership Team, the host company manufacturing manager, and through management of collaborative and aligned support from broader Manufacturing & Supply Chain and Regional resources/teams as required.
The role is a key member of Orica’s Global SMC Manufacturing Team, and it represents the Mfg. Center and Orica in the local industry and community.
What you will be doing
• Ensure that safety, health, environment and security procedures and regulations are adhered to by all Orica members, and by all Ascend employees across all activities of the Manufacturing Center.
• Provide oversight on all submissions of required state and federal environmental reports by Ascend, on Orica’s behalf.
• Align all Orica employees’ personal behaviours with Orica’s Charter Values, Purpose and Strategy. Demonstrate and role model safe behaviours and values.
• Set the Mfg. Center strategy and vision for the future integrated with the needs of the business and other business functions.
• Actively participate as a member of Manufacturing & Supply Chain team & maintain regular interaction with Regional Management Team.
• Develop the Orica Mfg. Center Leadership Team and High Potential Mfg. Center talent to maximise potential and capability, including Succession Planning for Key Roles, Employee Progression Plans, and Individual Development Plans in line with People Plan.
• Drive consistency of performance in the definition and accountabilities of Orica Mfg. Center employees, through having performance management processes in place to communicate expectations and provide feedback on performance.
• Drive a culture of engaged employees within the Orica and Ascend unit personnel involved in the delivery of continuous improvement.
• Continuously deploy best practices across all Product Line and Functional Support activities with full business alignment.
• Ensure functional support departments, internal and external to Mfg. Center, provide required and optimised support to the Product Line Team that aligns with and enables Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost performance to be achieved.
• Proactively maintain relationships with external stakeholders across regulatory bodies, local community and local industry for optimised outcomes for the Mfg. Center and Orica.
• The MCM will represent the Manufacturing Center on the Continuous Manufacturing Leadership Team and to the broader Manufacturing and Supply Chain and Regional organisations.
What you will bring
• A degree in engineering or science discipline is required
• Minimum experience of 5 years in a manufacturing industry, in a leadership position
• Considerable change management & process improvement experience
• Considerable regulatory, emergency, and incident management experience
