About the role
We’re seeking a hands‑on project leader to own the Capital Project Program for Delivery Systems across the AusPac Mining Services Region. In this pivotal role, you will ensure every project is planned and delivered to Orica’s Project Delivery Process and governance frameworks, meeting hazard study requirements and driving safe, efficient, and cost‑effective outcomes.
This position is based at Orica’s Kurri Kurri Technical Centre.
What you will be doing
- Safety leadership – Championing Orica’s SHEC standards and hazard study processes, embedding Zero Harm behaviours across every project phase.
- Capital project management – Delivering small to medium capital projects end‑to‑end within approved scope, schedule, and budget.
- Financial accuracy & reporting – Maintaining disciplined cash‑flow management, forecasting, and progress reporting to stakeholders.
- Regional engineering & Capex support – Providing technical guidance and capex support to regional engineering teams, aligned to strategic priorities.
- Statutory compliance – Ensuring all assets meet regulatory, statutory, and internal requirements.
- Governance & process compliance – Maintaining rigorous adherence to Orica’s Project Delivery Process and governance frameworks throughout the lifecycle.
What you will bring
- Degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent project management experience; PM qualifications highly regarded.
- 5+ years managing capital projects in industrial/mining environments, with strong governance and hazard study understanding.
- Proficiency in MS Office, SharePoint (document/workflow management), Microsoft Project (scheduling/resource planning), advanced Excel (analysis/forecasting), and familiarity with SAP S/4HANA (procurement, budgeting, reporting) would be highly regarded.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and leadership skills and the ability to work autonomously while guiding multidisciplinary teams.
- Commercial acumen in developing cost‑effective engineering solutions and managing supplier/contractual relationships.
